Transportation industry is likely to get a major boost due to increased application of shale gas. It would help to counter the rising fuel prices. Share of railways is increasing in the shale gas market. Similarly, Air industry is also looking for alternate source due to soaring fuel prices.

“Currently, natural gas is increasingly using into power motor vehicles. Some automobile companies, state government and local governments are moving to convert fleets of trucks, buses, and some other automobiles to run on natural gas. The usage of shale gas reduces the emissions from the vehicle exhausts,” said Guru Mallick, analyst at AMR.

“According to Energy Information Administration (EIA), America has aimed to convert all the automobiles to run on natural gas in coming years. Moreover, rise in the usage of natural gas to produce electrical power that is used by plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles has the potential to make more vehicular emissions reductions. Shale gas has played a major role in American society since last few years,” Mallick further added.

It is a key source for manufacturing components and fuel for commercial and residential applications, which is a cleaner source of energy and would be an important part of a comprehensive energy future.
